The key to controlling contamination of our waterways by organic chemicals is to prevent leaks or spills from ever reaching them –point source control. The Imbiber Beads® Containment Shut Off System allows water to drain from the containment area before an organic spill occurrence. However, in the event of a storage tank rupture, a valve’ sticking open’ or a chemical spill the Imtech “Imbiber Beads®” Disc would absorb the compatible organic – the Imbiber Beads® would swell, forming a blocking seal-, preventing hazardous material from reaching the sewer system. After spill clean up, the spent disc can be replaced re-establishing the pro-active system.

Health Issue
Imbiber Beads® Shut-Off Drain Systems (prior to activation) minimize standing water, thus reducing the risk of mosquito breeding areas forming, which in turn helps to minimize the spread of the West Nile Virus.
